AutoCAD Detailing: Automatic Weight Calculation in Bills of Materials

During the detailing of projects executed in Autocad in two dimensions, one of the time-consuming tasks for the designer / designer is the bill of materials weight calculation.

To simplify this task, save time and reduce errors, Fábrica do Projeto developed a LISP routine that practically calculates the weight of various profiles and sheets.

Several consultations are necessary to tables and location of specific weights for the most varied gauges.
The weightlifting task requires extra attention on the part of the professional who performs the service.. It is not uncommon to fill in incorrect information, resulting from the excessive repetition of the number of queries and calculations.

The routine is executed using the command "PES". After executing the command, just select the description and quantity of the material and the unit and total weight are automatically calculated and the values filled in the reserved fields.

It is worth noting that the width of the columns must be respected according to the model file, as well as the accuracy in formatting the description of the materials. They must be followed according to the model presented.

Routine calculates weight for the following materials in SAE1020 carbon steel / A36 or with a specific weight of 7850Kg/m³:

Viga I / Viga U / Plate / Redondo / flat iron / Cantoneira

The application is limited within a range of registered gauges. When an unregistered material is selected, the user is informed to calculate the weight manually.
