Name:
Control Valve Curve Calculation (N-1882)
Description:
The Process Engineer by defining the static process differential pressures upstream and downstream of the valve and the dynamic process differential pressures( in the valve in operation) upstream and downstream of the valve , makes it possible to define the inherent manufacturing curve of the plug or obturator of a control valve to meet the flow control characteristics in which the valve will act. These can be : =%, Linear or Parabolic.
For example, a globe valve at the outlet of a Centrifuge pump will have , usually internal with inherent characteristic =%. But when in operation its installed curve will respond close to a linear valve. Because the resultant of the pump load curve with the valve trim curve tends to equalize. Pump discharge pressure with increasing load and valve plug responds with increased passage area to keep flow varying linearly.
